Kathmandu, May 15

Chief district officers of three districts of the Kathmandu Valley have advised the government to shut all government offices in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur except those providing essential services shut again, for at least 15 days.

After being shut for around a month due to the lockdown imposed to control the coronavirus outbreak, the offices had begun to partially operate since Sunday this week. However, the top officials of the district recommended the closure again as the risk of infection increased of late.

The officials have forwarded their recommendation to the high-level coronavirus control committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel via the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Bhaktapur Chief District Officer Hum Kala Pandey says the officials agreed that the lockdown restrictions should be implemented as strictly as they were, in the starting three weeks.
