Orientation programme of USYC 2024 concluded

The orientation programme of the United States Youth Council 2024 (USYC) concluded on Sunday.

On the last day of the programme, former prime minister Babu Ram Bhattarai discussed the role of youths in the development with the members of USYC.

Similarly, the third day of the programme featured speakers like a member of parliament Sobita Gautam, singer Prakash Saput and photojournalist Skanda Gautam to discuss art, activism and politics of Nepal.

The participants during the programme also learned about fact-checking and ways to combat mis/dis information. The programme also featured sessions on team dynamics, learning how to build strong, collaborative teams for maximum impact.

The second day of the programme focused on social impact, with talks on USAID’s development efforts in Nepal and a powerful discussion on LGBTQIA+ rights. On the same day, there was also a session on the art of storytelling in the digital age. The participants also partook in workshops on problem-solving, social media management, and a thoughtful discussion on Nepal’s economic landscape.

US envoy Dean R. Thompson and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Indira Rana also showed their presence on the first day of the programme.

This year’s council includes 55 members from 35 districts and seven provinces representing Nepal’s social, religious, cultural, ethnic and gender diversity.
