About two dozen jolts have rattled Bajhang district in the last 24 hours. The jolts started rocking the district from 2 pm on Wednesday.

The jolts have left local people terrified. Police personnel are on alert in view of possibility of damages resulting from the tremors.

At 2.55 pm on Wednesday, a magnitude 5 quake struck Bajhang with its epicentre located close to district headquarters Chainpur. While 16 jolts rocked the district on Wednesday night, Tirtha Dahal, technical assitant at Seismological Centre in Surkhet, said, adding: On Thursday, the district experienced five more jolts.

Old infrastructure have suffered damage in the jolts. Cracks have developed on walls of houses and school buildings.
