Two dead as rainfall wreaks havoc in Itahari, Dhangadhi

Rainfall continuing since Monday night has resulted in the death of two people in Itahari of Sunsari district, apart from inundating more than 600 houses.

Ram Bahadur Baraili (66) of Itahari-4 died when a rain-swollen Tengra Stream swept him away, while in Labipur, Itahari-22, 50-year-old Bhanubhakta Timsina got electrocuted while cleaning the roof of his house during rainfall. Meanwhile, rainfall has been continuing in the eastern region of Nepal, including Sunsari, since Monday night. The road connecting Itahari with Biratnagar has been waterlogged. Security personnel have mobilised in a bid to build an embankment and tame Tengra.

Meanwhile, parts of Dhangadhi, Kailali district, went under water owing to incessant rains. With most of government offices in Dhangadhi inundated, service-seekers are facing difficulties.

With the onset of monsoon, most of Nepal is receiving rainfall.
