(Updated) Sunsari collision death toll reaches five

The death toll in a bus-microbus collision in Sunsari district along the East-West Highway has reached five. The fifth victim has been identified as Tanka Prasad Kaphle (45) of Bhadrapur in Jhapa district.

The death toll in a bus-microbus collision in Sunsari district along the East-West Highway has reached four.

The victims have been identified as Deepak Khadka from Baireni of Dhading, Dol Kumari Koirala and Hem Raj Koirala from Bhadrapur of Jhapa and Garima Paudel from Chandragadhi of Jhapa. Khadka was driving the microbus when the vehicle was hit by a bus coming from the opposite direction. The three others were passengers of the microbus.

The other 15 people have sustained injuries and they are undergoing treatment at different health facilities.

Three killed in Sunsari collision

Biratnagar, February 2

Three persons died when a bus and microbus collided head-on in Inaruwa of Sunsari district in eastern Nepal on Sunday morning. Seven others have sustained injuries.

The bus heading towards the east (from Baglung) had hit the microbus heading towards the west (Kathmandu) at Titribana road section along the East-West Highway this morning.

The driver of the microbus (Ba 5 Kha 3157) and two passengers died on the spot, according to SP Bhim Dahal, the chief of the Province 2 Traffic Police Office. The victims, two men and one woman, are yet to be identified.

The injured are being rescued to send to nearby health facilities. Further investigation is underway.
