The bodies of three more people who went missing after an avalanche on Himlung Himal in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5, Manang, have been recovered.
According to Manang Chief District Officer Mukti Prasad Khanal, the bodies of Aash Gurung of Kerauja in Dharche Rural Municipality-2, Gorkha, Suraj Rai of Aiselukharka Rural Municipality-3, Khotang, and Kalam Budha of Hukam, Rukum, were recovered on Wednesday.
All three were affiliated with a travel company called Himalayan Holidays, according to the Manang administration.
Four bodies had been recovered earlier. With the recovery of three more bodies on Wednesday, the total number of bodies recovered has reached seven, while nine people remain missing, Khanal said.
Among those still missing, seven are associated with Himalayan Holidays and two with Imagine Nepal.
The bodies of Birendra Gurung and Ghanshyam Rai were recovered on Monday, while the bodies of Chhebi Bhote and Pasang Bhote were recovered on Sunday.
Search and rescue teams have been deployed in the Himlung area to locate those still missing and recover the remaining bodies.
According to the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, a rescue team led by IFMGA mountain guides Pasang Kaji Sherpa and Bikram Karki is currently at Himlung.
