Tarai celebrating Fagu Purnima today

Kathmandu, March 13

The Tarai region of Nepal is celebrating Fagu Purnima or Holi in a big way on Monday. The government has declared Monday a holiday in the southern plains in view of the festival of colours. Peoples from the Tarai, who are living in Kathmandu, are also celebrating Holi today by putting different colours, including vermilion powder, on each other.

Holi helps increase unity, harmony and fraternity between different communities. On this day, people express themselves by organising different cultural and musical programmes.
