The stock market fell in double digits on Friday, the week’s final trading day. NEPSE said the market fell 11.90 points to close at 2,587.25.

The market fell 0.45 percent today. Friday’s turnover exceeded Rs 4 billion. A total of 1,19,12,550 shares were traded through 43,685 transactions across 356 listed securities.

These transactions amounted to turnover worth Rs 4,29,37,74,181. All sub-groups except mutual funds and trading fell in price today, driving the overall market down. The production and processing sub-group lost the most, down 0.73 percent.

NMB debenture gained the most on Friday, up 14.29 percent. SBL debenture rose 8.80 percent. Mandu Hydropower, Laxmi Unnati Fund and NIBL Growth Fund were among other securities with sizable gains.

Sindhu Bikas Bank’s investors lost the most today, with its price falling 8.55 percent. Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Financial Institution’s price fell 4.95 percent.

Besides these, Muktinath Krishi Company, Apollo Hydropower and Sarbottam Paints also saw large declines. SBL debenture saw the highest turnover by value.

Although the Ministry of Finance announced various measures last week to improve the stock market, their positive effect was not seen in the market this week. The market’s trend suggests investors remain in a wait-and-watch mode.
