Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has also arrived to directly observe the ‘breakthrough’ of the Nagadhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel, which took place after about 53 months. He was welcomed inside the tunnel with a red carpet. In addition, arrangements have been made to sit on the sofa.

The sofa was also arranged for Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Raghubir Mahaseth, who participated in the event.

Although the main tunnel was going to be drilled only on Monday, the emergency tunnel was drilled on August 7, 2023. The main tunnel is 2.688 km long. The emergency tunnel is 2.557 km long.

According to the project, users of this tunnel can travel from Balambu in Kathmandu to Sisnekhola in Dhading in 3 minutes. There are seven doors from the emergency tunnel to the main tunnel. An emergency tunnel has been constructed to carry out rescue work in case of problems occurring in the main tunnel.

This tunnel route is being built by Ando Corporation Japan. After the breakthrough of the main tunnel, there will be an electricity connection, oxygen supply arrangement, road slope etc. According to the project, the vehicle will be roadworthy only after one year.
