Six police units in Kathmandu sealed off after two cops contract Covid-19

Kathmandu, May 20

Two Nepal Police staffer deployed at Metropolitan Police Circle in Kalimati of Kathmandu have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Of five new cases detected in Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday, two belonged to the police staffer at the same station.

DSP Rugam Kunwar, the chief of the circle, says the circle, adjacent Metropolitan Traffic Police Sector, and Women’s Cell have been sealed off. Likewise, metropolitan police sector offices in Balkhu, Kalanki, and Syuchatar have also been sealed off as they were operating under the Kalimati circle and the infected personnel might have visited them recently.

“In all of them, we are 200 staff. Everyone’s swab samples will be collected for PCR tests,” he says.

The infected personnel used to stay at the barracks adjacent to the circle office. They used to have meals at a common mess hall.
