Kathmandu, May 5

One person succumbed to injuries he sustained during a helicopter crash in the Sankhuwasabha district of eastern Nepal on Friday afternoon.

Bhuwan Babu Khadka, the District Police Office spokesperson, says Bhawin Gurung, who would work for the chopper as an assistant, died during treatment.

All the four other injured people have taken to Kathmandu for further treatment.

5* injured in Simrik Air helicopter crash in Sankhuwasabha

Kathmandu, May 5

Five* persons were injured in a helicopter crash in the Sankhuwasabha district of eastern Nepal on Friday afternoon.

Of the injured, three with critical injuries have been airlifted to Kathmandu whereas two are undergoing treatment in the district headquarters, Khandbari, informs Bhuwan Babu Khadka, the District Police Office spokesperson.

The injured have been identified as Captain Surendra Paudel, his assistant Manoj Thapa, locals Chhiring Bhote and Bhawin Gurung, and Nepal Electricity Authority spokesperson Bikram Gurung.

The Simrik Air chopper was carrying equipment to Siprung from Gola of the district for the Upper Arun Hydropower Project.

Bhotkhola rural municipality ward 4 chairman Bikas Tamang from the incident site informs that Chhiring Bhote, who was also on board the chopper, is unhurt.

According to Tamang, the helicopter’s blades hit a slope, resulting in the accident.

Details are still awaited, informs Chief District Officer Shiva Kumar Karki.
