Design and Display

The design of the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is the same as the universal Samsung design all the Samsung smartphones are getting recently with few changes. The main change is the addition of the new key island design which first debuted on the Samsung Galaxy A05 and then in the Samsung Galaxy A15 and A25 smartphones. The key island is specific to the volume buttons and power button which are slightly raised, like islands in the ocean, hence the name.

The back is made up of glass and has a shiny finish and has a triple rear camera setup. The frame on the other hand is made up of aluminium with a matte finish giving a premium feel. On the front, the A55 5G’s display is slightly larger than the A54 5G. It has the centre-hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. The bezels on the sides and top are equal whereas on the chin is slightly thicker.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display, delivering stunning visuals with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 (FHD+). With a colour depth of 16 million, images are vibrant and lifelike. Its impressive 120 Hz max refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and gameplay. Plus, with 1000 nits of brightness (HBM), the screen shines even in bright sunlight. With a screen-to-body ratio of around 85.8 per cent of the front, it provides an excellent viewing experience.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G doesn’t compromise on built quality too with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front to protect the display and IP67 dust and water resistance for extra durability.

Performance and Storage

Powering the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is the in-house Samsung-built chipset, the Exynos 1480 chipset. Its octa-core CPU, comprised of four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.75 GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz, balances power and efficiency. The graphics is also handled by the Samsung-built Xclipse 530 GPU for gaming and multimedia. As for the OS, the smartphone runs on One UI 6.1 based on Android 14.
