Kathmandu, August 26
Sri Lankan all-rounder Sahan Arachchige will play the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) for Kathmandu Gorkhas.
Kathmandu Gorkhas announced Sahan’s signing via social media. The left-handed batter bowls right-arm off-spin.
Sahan has scored 1,462 runs in 103 T20 matches and has also taken 54 wickets. He has previously won the Lanka Premier League title.
Sahan has played 5 ODIs and one T20I for Sri Lanka. He made his ODI debut in July 2023 against the West Indies in the World Cup Qualifier held in Harare. He has also captained Sri Lanka ‘A’.
He recently played a key role in helping Galle Gladiators win the Lanka Premier League title, scoring 240 runs across all 11 matches at a strike rate above 147 during their maiden LPL triumph.
Kathmandu Gorkhas’ cricket director, Sharad Veshawkar, said Sahan is a spirited player carrying a winning mentality, capable of consistent performances, and has delivered match-winning displays for Galle Gladiators and Sri Lanka ‘A’ even under pressure by sticking to the game plan. He said he is confident Sahan’s temperament and clarity of mindset will benefit the team’s batting lineup, and that his batting, bowling, and fielding abilities could prove valuable for Kathmandu Gorkhas.
Sahan has played in Nepal before, he featured for Pokhara Rhinos in the 2021 Everest Premier League.
