Rooting for monarchy is constitutional right: Kamal Thapa

Kathmandu, August 9

President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kamal Thapa says rooting for the reinstatement of the monarchy is a constitutional right.

Speaking at a program in Dhulikhel,  Thapa expressed concern that Nepal Communist Party co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal compared people rooting for the monarchy to slaves. Thapa said that the current state of the country gave him more reason to push for a Hindu state along with a constitutional monarchy.

He added that he would urge all 753 local levels to push the government to declare Nepal a Hindu state and added that his party would start a campaign for the same. “We will remove corruption from this country,” promised Thapa. Thapa added that the campaign he and his party started will take time and urged followers to be patient.

“The constitution gives us the right to campaign for this. No one can stop us,” he claimed.
