Two people trapped inside a tunnel of the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project in Rasuwa have been rescued alive, according to an engineer involved in the search and rescue operation.
The two were rescued by a joint team of the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force, the engineer said.
The rescue comes hours after rescuers received an indication that people were alive inside the tunnel.
Engineer Shriram Neupane, citing the Nepali Army involved in the search operation, had said earlier Thursday morning that human voices were heard from inside the tunnel.
The development prompted rescue teams to intensify the search inside the tunnel.
The two people were subsequently located and rescued alive by the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force teams.
Further details about the identities and condition of the rescued workers are awaited.
The Bhotekoshi flood on August 26 caused extensive damage in Rasuwa and left several people trapped or missing in the area. Search and rescue operations are continuing at the hydropower project.
