Kathmandu, August 26

The death toll from the devastating Rasuwa flood has reached 72, according to the Armed Police Force Nepal.

The bodies have been recovered across several districts downstream of the Trishuli River.

Chitwan has recorded the highest number of deaths, with 28 bodies recovered — five women, 13 men and 10 people whose gender could not be identified.

In Dhading, 18 bodies have been recovered, including 11 women, five men and two whose gender could not be established.

Nuwakot has reported 11 deaths, comprising five women and six men.

In Gorkha, nine bodies have been recovered — two women, four men and three whose identities or gender have yet to be established.

In Tanahun, four bodies have been found: two men, one girl and one boy.

One girl’s body has been recovered in East Nawalpur, while one male body has been recovered in Rasuwa, according to the Armed Police Force.

The death toll is expected to change as search and recovery operations continue across areas affected by the massive flash flood that swept downstream from Rasuwa into Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan and other districts.
