Rasuwa flood death toll reaches 165 as 826 remain missing

The bodies of 165 people who died in the Rasuwa floods have been recovered, while 826 people remain missing, according to government figures.

As of 8:15am Thursday, 65 bodies had been recovered in Chitwan, 27 in Dhading, 12 in Nuwakot, two in Rasuwa, 20 in Gorkha, 26 in Nawalparasi East, nine in Tanahun and five in Nawalparasi West.

Search and rescue operations resumed early Thursday morning in flood-affected areas.

A multiparty meeting is also underway to discuss ways to make rescue and relief operations more effective.

According to a Nepal Police bulletin issued at 8:15am, 826 people remain unaccounted for following the floods.

Among those missing are 44 Nepali Army personnel, 28 Nepal Police personnel, 13 Armed Police Force personnel and 579 tourists.

Similarly, 161 residents of Rasuwa and one person from Nuwakot have been reported missing.

Authorities have continued search and rescue operations along the affected river corridors and surrounding areas.
