Janakpurdham, August 28
Ten people from Madhesh Province who had lost contact due to the unprecedented flood on the Bhotekoshi River have since reached their families. 116 people from the province remain uncontacted.
According to Province Police Office spokesperson SSP Prabhu Prasad Dhakal, the 10 previously uncontacted individuals have now reached their families.
Police have not disclosed their identities.
Earlier, police had said 120 men, five women, and one child were uncontacted.
Of these, Saptari had the highest number with 31, followed by Parsa with 28, Bara with 19, Rautahat with 15, Sarlahi and Mahottari with 10 each, Siraha with 8, and Dhanusha with 5, according to police records.
SSP Dhakal said these figures were compiled based on applications and phone reports submitted by family members and relatives.
Police say the location for 91 uncontacted individuals is listed simply as “Rasuwa.” The rest are linked to various hydropower projects in Rasuwa, Betrawati and Trishuli Bazaar in Nuwakot, and other work or business activities.
Some are reported to be connected to projects including Upper Trishuli, Trishuli Hydropower, and Mailung Hydropower.
