Kathmandu, February 28

Rastriya Janamorcha, a small leftist party that has one seat in the House of Representatives, says it has left the ruling alliance after the alliance ratified the controversial MCC grant deal signed with the government in 2017.

Thanks to the votes of the lawmakers belonging to ruling parties, the parliament had endorsed the deal yesterday. Rastriya Janamorcha, however, had protested the move of putting the deal to the vote.

A meeting of the party’s central secretariat meeting on Monday decided to leave the alliance as the ratification of the MCC deal would result in long-term negative impacts on the country, according to the party.

Meanwhile, the party also decided to organise protest programmes in various parts of the country from March 3 to 6.
