Kathmandu, September 30
Rara, a popular instant noodle brand sold in Nepal, has been found to be below the required quality standards, according to the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control.
The department has directed the company producing the noodles to recall the products already distributed in the market and completely stop their further sale and distribution.
The department collected samples of Rara noodles during routine market monitoring and inspection under the Food Hygiene and Quality Act 2081.
Laboratory tests conducted at the department’s official laboratory found that the sampled product did not meet the prescribed standards for food products and was therefore classified as substandard.
The product is the 60-gram Rara instant noodles manufactured by Himgiri Foods Pvt Ltd, based in the Pokhara Industrial Area of Kaski.
The affected product carries batch number REG 01 and has a production date of February 5, 2026.
Although the manufacturer has set a shelf life of 12 months from the date of production, the department said all packets from this particular batch must be removed from the market after the product was found to be substandard during testing.
The department has instructed that all food products bearing the affected batch number be immediately recalled and warned against selling or distributing them under any circumstances.
Consumers have also been advised not to purchase or consume Rara noodles bearing the specified production date and batch number in order to protect their health.
