Stone recovered by the police in Gorkha confirmed to be quartz crystal

The police have verified that the stone found at the residence of Ram Maya Shahi in Gorkha Municipality-7 is indeed a quartz crystal.

A team from the Department of Mines and Geology which tested the stone has confirmed it is a quartz crystal.

The team submitted the stone test report to the district administration office on Wednesday.

Geologist Susmita Bhandari from the department said that the stone is a valuable gemstone. The team of geologists also tested the various technical aspects of the stone.

The team from the department said quartz crystal is used to make jewellery and decorative materials. It is said that quartz crystal is partially used in electronic devices such as watches, computers, and radio transmitters.

The department has asked the district administration office to provide for research purposes.

Geologist Bhandari pointed out that the weight of the stone is 52.33 kilograms and it is difficult to find a single rock of this weight.

The police recovered the stone from Ram Maya Shahi on June 29 after receiving a tip that Shahi was selling it for millions of rupees.
