The Province 2 government says it endorses the statement of Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut that he was struggling against ‘the discriminatory constitution’ of the country.

Of late, Raut was under fire for taking up the internal issue to the international level as he made the statement during a civic reception organised to honour visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali have also condemned Raut for the statement.

But, speaking at the Provincial Assembly meeting today, the provincial government’s Minister for Internal Affairs and Law,  Gyanendra Yadav, clarified that the constitution in fact had shortcomings and errors; hence the Chief Minister just represented his people’s voices.

“It is the leadership’s responsibility to express people’s sentiments. The Chief Minister made his statement in front of thousands of people accordingly,” Yadav said, “Therefore, there is no meaning in comments made against the statement.”
