Biratnagar, February 21
The Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party has tabled a no-confidence motion against Province 1 Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai in the Provincial Assembly meeting on Sunday.
The other faction of the party, however, boycotted the meeting. Earlier on February 7, the side had barred the Dahal-Nepal faction from tabling the proposal.
The faction supporting Rai had objected to Speaker Pradeep Kumar Bhandari’s decision to allow 16 lawmakers belonging to the other faction join the meeting claiming the party already suspended them. With the same claim, they walked out of the meeting today.
The Dahal-Nepal faction had registered the motion at the assembly secretariat on December 27, 2020, after the NCP split due to the conflict over the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, Speaker Bhandari adjourned the meeting immediately after tabling the proposal.
