Kathmandu, November 4
Prime Minister Prachanda and Opposition leader KP Sharma Oli met on Friday afternoon to discuss the government’s preparations to amend the constitution to address the demands of Mahdesh-based parties.
During the course of the meeting, the Prime Minister told Oli that his government would soon table a proposal to amend the new constitution, and sought the support of the UML to help it sail through Parliament, where the ruling alliance does not have the required two-thirds majority to pass the motion.
During the meeting at the Speaker’s chamber in Singha Durbar, Opposition leader KP Oli responded positively to the Prime Minister’s call, an adviser to the Prime Minister told Onlinekhabar. Oli said he will take up the issue with other UML leaders.
