Preparations afoot to publish SLC exam results in about a week

Examination-Controller

Kathmandu, June 12

The Exam Controllers’ Office in Bhaktapur is preparing to publish the results of SLC examinations conducted about two months ago in the first week of Asar (around June 15-22). Examiners have marked the answer sheets and are cross-checking the marks obtained, presently.

Altogether 6, 15, 553 students had sat written their papers at 1,453 exam centres in the examinations that started on March 31 and ended on April 11. Exam controller Krishna Prasad Kapri told Onlinekhabar: Most probably, we will complete our (exam-related) works in about a week. After that, we will publish the results.

He said they are currently cross-checking the marks obtained.

For the first time in the history of SLC in Nepal, the government is introducing the letter grading system.  This system applies to regular, technical and exempted examinees.

Mark-sheets will grade students’ performance by giving grades such as A, B, C, D etc instead of declaring them as pass, fail, first division, distinction, etc. Kapri said there are some difficulties because they have to determine the grades as per the marks obtained, adding that they are doing all they can to publish the results as early as possible.

This year, 4, 52, 881 examinees under the regular category, 1, 59, 417 examinees under the exempted category and 3, 255 examinees under the technical category wrote their papers. Of the regular students, 2, 25, 246 were male, whereas 2, 27, 535 examinees were female. Under the technical category, 1, 982 students were male and 1, 273 students were female.
