Polish ski daredevil Andrzej Bargiel has announced that he will be attempting to climb and ski down Mt Everest (8848 m) this autumn. Speaking to redbull.com, Bargiel said that he would be attempting the feat without unfastening the skis and without additional oxygen, something which has never been done before.

Bargiel last year created history as he skied down from the top of the second-highest mountain K2.

“I think it will be very complicated as very few people attempt to climb Everest in the fall. There’ll be a lot of snow which will complicate things even more,” he told redbull.com.

Bargiel shares that he is climbing without oxygen to test himself. He says he feels he is fit enough. He further adds that he wants to do something worth remembering for. “If it was easy, others would have done it before me.”

When asked if he’s looking to try a different route Bargiel says that it will be decided when they reach the mountain.

“For now the goal is simple to climb and ski down. After I get there I will assess what the slopes look like, what the snow conditions will be and whether they will be stable or not. I have some ideas which might come in handy.”
