Police use water cannons to stop the Durga Prasai group from marching towards no-protest zone

Kathmandu, November 23

Tensions escalated between the Durga Prasai group and the police in Balkhu, Kathmandu, resulting in a clash.

The police employed force as demonstrators attempted to breach the police cordon and proceed towards Kalimati.

Following Durga Prasai’s address at the performance venue, an individual urged the crowd to move towards Tripureshowr, an area designated as a no-protest zone by the Kathmandu District Administration Office.

Police dispersed the protestors by using tear gas and water cannons. In retaliation, the crowd pelted the police with stones and bricks.

Earlier, a clash broke out between the group and UML’s youth wing in the area.
