Pokhara landslides kill 3, injure 5

Different incidents of landslide killed three persons and injured five others in Pokhara, the Gandaki provincial capital, in the Kaski district of western Nepal on Wednesday.

Two persons died in Bhalam, Pokhara-20, and one in Kahun, Pokhara-11, informs the District Police Office.

The victims in Bhalam have been identified as Krishna Shrestha (45) and his wife Sun Maya Tamang (35), who died when a landslide buried their tin-made hut. While Tamang died on the spot, Shrestha was declared dead when he was taken to the Manipal Hospital for treatment.

Their nine-year-old son Raj Kumar is injured whereas a three-year-old son Santosh is missing, informs the District Police Office spokesperson DSP Subas Hamal.

In another case, Laksha Nepali (42), a resident of Namunatole, Kahun Bhanjyang, Pokhara-11 died when a landslide buried his house.

His 14-year-old daughter Shristi is injured and is undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital.

Yet, in another case, three persons sustained injuries in Kahun Baseri, Pokhara-11.
