
Kathmandu, December 2
A car hit an on-duty traffic police officer in Kesharmahal, resulting in one death and two injuries.
According to police, the injured include Traffic Constable Pashuram Thakur of the Durbar Marg Traffic Police Division and the car’s driver, 66-year-old Suresh Raj Kalika of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–16.
The deceased is a man estimated to be around 30 years old. His identity has not yet been confirmed.
SP Naresh Raj Subedi of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshah Path, said the traffic officer sustained injuries to both legs and his chest.
The deceased had been rushed to the hospital in an unresponsive condition. All the injured were taken to the National Trauma Center for treatment. The injured traffic officer was later referred to the Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj.
Police said the accident occurred when a Netta EV car (Ba. Pra. 01–030 Cha 2348) coming from the south gate towards Kesharmahal went out of control. After hitting the traffic officer and a pedestrian, the car crashed into the wall of the Dream Garden.
