Parties busy in internal meetings after Oli’s House dissolution move

A meeting of key Nepali Congress leaders

Kathmandu, December 20

Following Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to recommend for the dissolution of the House of Representatives, political parties have expedited internal meetings to decide their next move.

The ruling Nepal Communist Party, virtually divided over the decision, was scheduled to hold its standing committee meeting this afternoon, but with the move, it has been uncertain. Nevertheless, the rival faction led by the executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is holding its meeting at Dahal’s residence in Khumaltar.

Likewise, the main opposition Nepali Congress has called an emergency meeting of its central officials. The meeting will be held at the party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilakantha at 1 pm today.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has called a meeting of its central secretariat for 3 pm today.

Meanwhile, the Bibeksheel Sajha Party is staging a protest outside the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar this afternoon.
