Parliament disrupted over Visit Visa Scandal (Photos)

Kathmandu, May 27

Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives was disrupted by opposition parties over a major human trafficking scandal involving the abuse of visit visas at Tribhuvan International Airport.

The CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party blocked proceedings, demanding accountability.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire adjourned the session for half an hour after lawmakers shouted slogans and disrupted the meeting. Prior to the adjournment, he allowed Maoist MP Barshaman Pun and RSP’s Shishir Khanal to speak.

Both lawmakers called for the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and demanded the formation of a high-level investigation committee. They declared the House would not proceed until the minister steps down.
