In Parbat, flooding, landslides put 100 families at high risk of displacement

Flooding and landslides resulting from rains continuing for about two months have put about 100 families at high risk of displacement in Parbat district.

Chief district officer of Parbat, Shambhu Prasad Marasini, said monsoon disasters have so far rendered around a dozen families homeless, while around 99 families are at high risk of losing their homes.

In Majhfant-9, northern Parbat, rain-triggered landslides have destroyed six houses. Around 21 families are at high risk of displacement in Gairiswanra, Bhangara VDC-2, 22 in Jahele, Deurali VDC-6 and 25 in Maldhunga, Kushma municipality-1.

In Banskharka-9 and Majhfant-9, seven and 24 families are at high risk of displacement, as per reports coming from different technical teams, District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee said.

Pravin Dhakal, assistant CDO, said authorities have decided to do the needful for shifting settlements at high risk.
