Over 7,000 Armed Police deployed for disaster response, public alerts in 63 districts

More than 7,000 Armed Police Force personnel have been mobilised for disaster response efforts across the country, while public awareness campaigns are being conducted in 63 districts through loudspeaker announcements urging people to stay safe.

According to Ram Bahadur KC, Undersecretary and Chief of the Disaster Response Division at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, a total of 7,315 armed police personnel have been deployed.

Different teams have been carrying out miking campaigns to spread awareness and call on people to remain in safe locations.

The Authority has also established 26 disaster response bases, in addition to the 9 that were already operational. All bases are currently active.

Similarly, 990 volunteers have been prepared, with an 18-day schedule provided to keep them on standby.

Rescue equipment has also been kept ready and can be deployed immediately if required, KC added.
