A motorcycle carrying three people met with an accident on the Araniko highway. One person died while two were injured in the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Surendra Shrestha, 27, a resident of Madhyapur Thimi, Ward no. 9, according to Prabin Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Metropolitan Police, Thimi.
The incident occurred during late night yesterday at around 1 am when the speeding motorbike, with the license plate Ba 74 Pa 5248, slammed into the divider of the Lokanthali-Kaushaltar section of the Araniko highway.
Victims were rushed to the nearby Nagarik community teaching hospital where Surendra was declared dead. Injured Sanjaya Shrestha, 27, and Mukesh Shrestha, 27, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The body of the deceased has been brought to Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj for post mortem.
