Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the government is committed to creating employment opportunities within the country so that the workers need not go abroad to earn living.

In his message to all Nepali workers, living in the country and abroad, on the occasion of International Labour Day, the Prime Minister said the government launched the Prime Minister’s Employment Programme in order to ensure that Nepalis would get jobs within the country.

He said that each local government would have an employment service centre to ensure the implementation of the programme soon.

Oli added that the government was also committed to  implementing provisions of the Labour Act. The government, hence, recently increased the minimum wage of the workers by 39 per cent, according to him.

Likewise, the government already formulated regulations to launch the contribution-based social security programme and the full-fledged programme would be launched by the next fiscal year, Oli informed.
