Oli says UML can overcome current setback by strengthening party

Kathmandu, October 2

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has said the party can rise well above its current setback if it moves forward by strengthening itself.

Oli made the remarks while administering the oath of office to newly nominated central committee members at the party’s central office in Chyasal on Friday. He said a party pursuing the great goal of national prosperity could face setbacks from time to time, but it could rise well above the current setback by strengthening itself and moving forward.

He said forces opposed to development had attempted to obstruct the UML, which was advancing the country’s development campaign.

Oli expressed confidence that although the country had experienced regression and the party had suffered a setback, the party could recover from where it had fallen and move further ahead than before if its members avoided getting caught up in minor issues and moved forward with an open mind.

He said the newly sworn-in central committee members should play a leading role and establish themselves in society as role models. He urged them to abandon improper conduct and demonstrate integrity, discipline, communist decorum and humility.

He also stressed that party leaders and cadres should understand modern technology and the contemporary context and move forward accordingly, as the current era is one of “IT war.”
