Kathmandu, October 21
Nepali Congress senior leader and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi has said the opposition’s push to impeach CIAA chief Lokaman Singh Karki is part of the UML’s bid to topple the Prachanda government.
Nidhi, who is considered a close ally of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, also raised questions over the the legality of the signatures submitted to Parliament as part of the proposal to impeach the anti-graft body chief.
The minister, speaking to BBC Nepali Service on Thursday night said, “Whatever has happened is part of the UML’s conspiracy to topple the government.
Nidhi also clarified that the Nepali Congress will not speak on the issue until the Maoists themselves come up with a response to the questions raised over the legality of the proposal.
