Birgunj, January 17

Underprivileged families of Birgunj in Parsa district of southern Nepal are still struggling to come of the economic deprivation they have been facing due to the lockdown imposed to control the Covid-19 crisis in the country.

To address this situation, a non-government organisation named Yuwalaya has started another round of relief distribution campaign in the city on Saturday.

Birgunj was one of the cities that the coronavirus had worst hit in Nepal last year.

The organisation’s executive board member Jaya Sah says Yuwalaya distributed daily essentials such as foodstuffs, and toiletries to 138 families in wards 27 and 29 of the metropolitan city, worth Rs 300,000 in total.

The city government is also coordinating the campaign whereas Improving Lives In Nepal is providing financial support, according to Sah.
