Kathmandu, July 11

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed new ambassadors to Egypt and Austria.

A statement by the President’s Office says Sushil Kumar Lamsal has been appointed the envoy to Egypt and Bharat Kumar Regmi to Austria.

Regmi will also function as Nepal’s permanent representative to the UN office in Vienna.

The constitution has it that the president appoints the ambassadors upon a recommendation from the government. The appointees have to get through the parliamentary hearing before the appointment.
