NEPSE: Stock market experiences high volatility, ends below 3000 points

The stock market experienced significant fluctuations on the final trading day of the week. By 12:46 pm, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index had reached 3018 points but could not maintain its position above 3000 points. Ultimately, the market closed with the index slightly below this level. Compared to the previous day, the NEPSE index increased by 6.01 points.

There was a modest increase in trading volume. The total turnover rose from Rs 18.9 billion the previous day to Rs 19.16 billion on this day. The prices of shares from 132 companies went up, while 109 companies saw a decline, and 3 companies’ prices remained unchanged.

Notable interest was observed in the development bank sector, with its index rising by 4.5%. Other sectors saw varied movements: banking increased by 0.17%, finance by 1.23%, hotels and tourism by 1.31%, hydropower by 0.55%, and life insurance by 0.28%. Conversely, trade dropped by 1.55%, other sectors by 0.30%, non-life insurance by 1.12%, production by 0.56%, and investment by 1.08%.

The share prices of 7 companies surged by 10%. These include Taragaon Regency, Narayani Development Bank, Jyoti Development Bank, Corporate Development Bank, Sindhu Development Bank, Sapta Koshi Development Bank, and Three Star Hydropower.

Additionally, Green Development’s shares rose by 8.15%, and Mahalaxmi Development Bank’s shares increased by 6.8%. On the other hand, Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) saw a decrease of 3.9%, National Insurance Company’s shares fell by 3.7%, and Sagarmatha Jalavidyut’s shares dropped by 3.7%.

Based on trading volume, the leading positions were held by Sain Rasuwa Development Bank, Arun Valley Hydropower, Himalayan Reinsurance, Jyoti Development Bank, and Api Power.
