NEPSE rises to 2,591.56 points, transactions near Rs 5 billion

Nepal’s stock market index, NEPSE, posted a modest gain on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, rising by 5.32 points (0.20%) to close at 2,591.56. Trading activity also improved, with a total turnover nearing Rs 5 billion. Sunday’s session recorded 61,167 transactions involving 9.38 million shares, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 4.86 billion.

The Hydropower and Trading sub-indices saw significant growth, rising by 1.67% and 1.14%, respectively, while the Hotel and Tourism sub-index increased by 0.60%. In contrast, the Banking sub-index declined by 0.55%, and Finance and Manufacturing sub-indices dropped by 1.04% and 0.60%, respectively.

Out of 243 listed companies, 141 stocks gained, 94 declined, and 8 remained unchanged. Janaki Finance led the market with transactions worth Rs 190.9 million, followed by River Falls Power with Rs 173.6 million, Rasuwagadhi Hydropower with Rs 129.1 million, NRN Infrastructure & Development Company with Rs 127.9 million, and Nepal Finance with Rs 115 million.

The stocks of Upakar Laghubitta, Dordikhola Hydropower, and Green Venture Limited hit a positive circuit limit with a 10% gain. Dolti Power Company and Green Development Bank saw their stock prices rise by 9.44% and 9.24%, respectively.

On the downside, Narayani Development Bank’s stock fell by 8.88%. Shares of Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta and Janaki Finance dropped by 6.85% and 6.39%, respectively.
