Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire has once again achieved a remarkable feat, winning the world championship in kickboxing.
Ghimire made history by defeating French boxer Mathon Choinard in the main event of the Hit Kick Boxing – 59th International Sports Kick Boxing Federation World Championship, held on Saturday at Kariya Hall in Nagoya, Japan. Choinard was the reigning world champion, having won the title in 2025.
In a stunning display of skill, Ghimire delivered a powerful punch that knocked out Choinard in the second minute of the second round.
With 29 international bouts under his belt, Ghimire is the only Nepali athlete to have recorded 21 international victories, 20 of them by knockout.
Known as the “Himalayan Cheetah,” Ghimire has emerged as a prominent figure in Nepalese kickboxing, proudly representing the country on the international stage.
Following his victory, Ghimire told RSS that he was saddened by the loss of life in the recent Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa and expressed his commitment to supporting the victims.
