Nepali Congress to monitor govt response to monsoon disasters

Kathmandu, July 15

The main opposition party Nepali Congress has decided to monitor the government response to recent floods and landslides across the country.

The party has decided to check if the government will carry out rescue, relief and rehabilitation works effectively.

Meanwhile, the party has directed its leaders and cadres across the country to involve themselves in rescue and relief works.

Party president and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba says the party has adjourned its central working committee meeting to let leaders visit the affected sites.

“In the time of crisis, it is our responsibility to devote ourselves to the service of brothers and sisters who are in pain, rising above political biases and prejudices,” a statement issued by Deuba this morning reads.
