Nepali Congress, RJPN file urgent public importance motion demanding House discuss floods, landslides

Lawmakers of Nepali Congress stand up in protest in a House of Representatives meeting

Kathmandu, July 15

The main opposition party Nepali Congress and Madhesh-centric Rastriya Janata Party Nepal have jointly filed a motion of urgent public importance demanding that the House of Representatives postpone its scheduled businesses and discuss how to respond to the crisis caught by recent floods and landslides.

Minendra Rijal and Pushpa Bhusal of Nepali Congress and Raj Kishore Yadav of RJPN filed the motion on Monday.

The discussion on the crisis will help the government formulate more effective plans to respond to the disasters and it will also guide members of Parliament to go the field and engage in rescue, relief and recovery workers, the lawmakers have claimed in their motion.

Of late, the two parties outside the government have partnered up to raise concerns over various issues and protest the government’s wrongdoings.
