Nepali Congress postpones all gatherings, events till next notice

Nepali Congress spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma addresses a press meet in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, March 4

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, on Wednesday, announced that it had decided to put on hold all scheduled meetings, gatherings and events till the next notice amid growing fears of coronavirus spread in the country.

The party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma made the statement during a press meet in Kathmandu today. He said the party’s sister organisations also would not do any such activity during this period. The party would help the government controlling and countering the risk of coronavirus infection, according to Sharma.

The leader announced that the party would launch an awareness campaign on the virus.

The party, however, clarified that it would not stop distributing and renewing the active membership for the upcoming 14th general convention.
