Nepali Congress demands Hong Kong grant transit visa to Nepalis in Macau

A delegation led by Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand meets Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, in Kathmandu, on Sunday, December 22, 2019.

Kathmandu, December 22

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has told the government to make efforts in asking Hong Kong to grant transit visas for Nepalis living and working in Macau.

The party argues that around 4,000 Nepali youth are currently working in Macau, a special administrative region of China, and Kathmandu-Hong Kong-Macau would be the best air route for them to travel between Nepal and Macau.

A delegation led by the party’s chief whip Bal Krishna Khand met Minister for Pradeep Gyawali today and urged him to take diplomatic initiatives in this regard.

In response, the minister said he was aware of and serious about the issue, assuring the ministry would work on it soon.
