Nepal won’t join any military alliance, will continue participating in drills

Kathmandu, March 10

A draft of the National Security Policy has been submitted to the Cabinet on Sunday.

The draft suggests that Nepal not join any military alliance nor send its troops to fight any wars. However, the policy does state that the military drills with armies from countries such as India, China and the USA can go on.

The draft policy, formulated by a task force led by Defence Minister Ishwar Pokharel, will be presented before Parliament after it is endorsed by the Cabinet. Any necessary changes to the draft will be made by the committee the Cabinet.
