Nepal Telecom has got a go-ahead from Nepal Telecom Authority for launching 4G service.

NTA Chief Digambar Jha told Onlinekhabar that the NTA board meeting held on Friday prepared a minute in favour of granting the government-owned Nepal Telecom permission for the operation of 4G service.

He said members of NTA’s board of directors will formalise the decision by signing in the file in a day or two.

According to Jha, NT will get to operate the service using 15-MHz 4G service through 1800 MHz frequency band. Now on, NT will give continuity to 2G and 3G services using 10 MHz and run 4G using the remaining 5 MHz.

NTA had demanded an action plan from NT for operation of 4G service well before Dashain. In its action plan, NT has said it will expand 4G service to Kathmandu and Pokhara within two months after getting permission. Based on its plan, NT was given permission for launch of 4G service.
