Nepal suspends all international flights from Sunday, long-route public buses from Monday

Kathmandu, March 20

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the nation on Friday evening, urging the public not to panic but to adopt necessary prevention measures against the novel coronavirus infection.

In his some-10-minute long televised address that he delivered from the official residence in Baluwatar, the prime minister also made some key announcements in the government bid to protect the country from the deadly infection.

Here are the highlights:

  1. Suspend all international flights from March 22 to 31
  2. Close all public and private offices except those providing essential services from March 22 to April 3
  3. Halt the operation of long-route public buses from March 23
  4. Provide Rs 100 million to a fund established by the SAARC nations to fight the COVID-19
