Chitwan, April 26

The Chitwan National Park (CNP) says it is preparing to send a male rhino calf to China. It will be one of the four rhinoceros that Nepal is gifting the northern neighbour within next three months.

According to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation’s Director General, Man Bahadur Khadka, a team of wildlife experts including veterinarians from China and Nepal examined the first rhino calf and verified it to be healthy enough to be sent to China.

The rhino calf was bred by the CNP at its enclosure at the National Nature Conservation Trust in Sauraha.

The government had decided to gift China with two pairs of rhino within the next three months.
